| These women are realizing a global dream by achieving elements of the millenium development goals - ending poverty and generating equal rights of females. One story represents many. A young woman living in a mud house in Sendivakkam had little opportunity for economic self-sufficiency She takes a training in embroidery and sewing that is available through the Womens' Empowerment Center . Rather than working as a cooley in the rice field for 50 cents a day she now sews her way to healthy prosperity. |
